Harry told me this story, hopefully it will be in more detail on his blog. Amy and Chuck's son Cole was baptized Saturday. Amy had invited John and he responded that he would be happy to witness the event. Harry and Linda picked John up enroute to Lafayette. Harry had to carry in a cooler and asked John to carry his scriptures.
The ward mission leader seeing John with the scriptures and righteous bearing, asked him if he would be the witness. John replied that he had come to witness the event. John did get a bit confused when he was asked if he had a current temple recommend. Pat stepped in and straightened the situation out.
So if you ever need a witness for a baptism, call on John the Witness.
