We experienced an adventure in plumbing. A couple months ago, the drains were slow and we had them roto-rootered. (Actually, the local firm is named Pickles, but it sounds better to say that your drains were roto-rootered than Pickled.)
Then a couple of weeks ago, we heard gurgling sounds from the drain and Susan was visionary enough to call them back. Well they went "as far as we could" with the "snake" and said we needed to call the city to determine where the problem was. If it was on the city's side of the property line, it was their problem, but ours if it was on our side. This caused me some mental anxiety, since the sewer line runs below the driveway which we had replaced two years ago.
It was a Friday afternoon and the city responded promptly. They were very high tech with a camera on cable that they ran down our pipe. They discovered the blockage due to a collapsed pipe near the manhole in the street. My worst fears were abated, but they were not be able to get to it until Monday morning and we were told to not use the drains until it was fixed...no flushing or showers.
So Saturday night, we went to a motel with a pool & hot tub and were able to be presentable for church. We went to supper at Culver's, a fast food place with an expanded menu and great ice cream treats. So here's a picture of Susan smiling through the adversity.
Monday, the city got right on the repairs and had it done by noon, so all is well, all is well.
