Monday morning, we met Janet, Terry, and Nate for breakfast and then said farewell to our kind hosts Isaac and Deb. As we traveled south crossing the Umpqua River for the last time, the temperature was again heading toward 100 degrees. By noon we were in California in the Jedidiah Smith State Park on the Redwoods Highway and the temperature had tumbled to the 70s. We took a hiking loop of about 2 miles through a grove of redwoods and were properly impressed by the awesome trees and quietude. Susan became a tree hugger on the spot.
