The Gramma Doors

Marquette has a tradition of community art projects. Several years ago, chairs were painted to line the route for the Finnfest parade. The next project was totem poles displayed in the park by the harbor. This year, it is "Gramma Doors," doors painted to memorialize Grandmothers. There are over 200 doors on display in the park.

Susan embraced this project with vigor. With some assistance from the grandchildren Rachel and Rebecca, she has done a door for her Grandmothers Hardish and LaJoice, then for her mom and my mom, and is working on one for her great-grandmother Kirkpatrick.
