When we got up Tuesday morning, it was still foggy, so we had a leisurely breakfast at the motel and got going about 10. There was more of the same beautiful scenery, but I did not anticipate adding to the blog and to keep driving. We did want to stop at Coos Bay where Isaac and Deb were married last fall. We had seen their wedding pictures and thought it was an especially beautiful place. Driving out to the point, we saw this look out with a lot of people pointing and looking through binoculars. When I got out of the car, I could hear barking sounds. It takes a bit of faith, but if you look closely at the rocks that make up Simpson's Reef, the dots are seal lions...several hundred of them.
We continued on and came upon a look out at a turnaround. A wedding party was assembling. We went to have a look and young man pointed out a humpback whale which would surface briefly every few minutes. We watched for about 15 minutes. Again, use faith and look at the white spot in the center of the picture.
We received a call from Janet that Hannah had been hospitalized on Monday for heat exhaustion but was now home in Salem. Janet and Terry were in route there. So we headed that direction to meet them all for supper. The temperature along the coast was in the 60s, but as we drove up the Umpqua Valley, it rose steadily to 107!
Tomorrow we fly back to Green Bay and since we arrive very late, we'll spend the night there.
